View Article  Clearer Web Fonts and Screen Display

Having just installed a new hard disk I realised that our site looks pretty poor with the windows standard settings. You can make a big difference to how your screen and fonts look by visiting the Microsoft ClearType pages at: http://www.microsoft.com/typography/cleartype/tuner/Step1.aspx

Here you can tune your screen up on-line or download a power tool that you can install to tweak your settings from the control panel.

I hope this is useful.

Here are two handy utilities that I have found recently.

WebMon: download from http://www.btinternet.com/~markwell/webmon/

WebMon is a freeware web page update monitoring program - it saves you time and keeps you updated by automatically checking web pages to see if they have changed.

Some of its features include:
Checking an unlimited number of web pages.
Scheduling automatic checking at set intervals.
Optional pop-up alerts and sounds when updates are found.
Selecting which part of the web page to check.
Simple installation and removal.
Freeware, with no advertising or spyware.

And;

NVU: download from http://www.nvu.com/

NVU is a complete and totally free web authoring program to to rival programs like FrontPage and Dreamweaver.

I hardly ever read flyers that I get with magazines but one caught my eye recently. Go to www.vistaprint.co.uk/amazon07 to receive 250 free business cards.

You probably can get them free if you go for the real basic stuff but I made my own design with the RSPB logo, a calendar on the reverse and a background picture and then ordered a wallet to carry them so instead of free, my bill came to £29!

Still, I was impressed by the way that the website made it so easy to construct a business card.
